First year paid mortgage?

Can anyone tell me about a new/recent program which involves a first-year paid mortgage? My friend who lives in Las Vegas tells me that there are some lenders who pay your mortgage for the first full year.....I guess to get through this low-buyer-season. How does it work? This would work for me perfectly since it would be another 8 months before I start earning a good living.
